Ein spannendes Format des mitte Sommerprogrammes 2023 war die Ausstellung “Dessau Illustriert”. Die Druckbar Dessau, ein Risographie Studio im nahegelegen VorOrt Projekt, fiel auf, wie viele tolle Illustrator:innen in Dessau-Roßlau zu finden sind. Daraufhin entstand das Format einer kollektiven Ausstellung an. Das Interessante dabei: Durch das Einbeziehen der Künstler:innen in den gesamten Prozess und Durchführung der Ausstellung (Aufbau, Vernissage, Öffnungszeiten, Finissage) besuchten viel mehr Menschen aus unterschiedlichen Blasen das mitte und die To-Dos wurden auf viel mehr Schultern verteilt. Öffnungszeiten bereitzustellen war nun möglich dank der Künstler:innen selbst und der Startpunkt für eine Kultur des Mitmachens warn gesetzt.

The ‘Dessau Illustrated’ exhibition was an exciting format of the mitte Summer Programme 2023. Druckbar Dessau, a risography studio in the nearby VorOrt project, noticed how many great illustrators can be found in Dessau-Roßlau. As a result the format of a collective exhibition came up. The interesting thing was that by involving the artists in the entire process and realisation of the exhibition (set-up, vernissage, opening hours, finissage), many more people from different bubbles visited the mitte and the to-dos were spread over many more shoulders. Providing opening hours was now possible thanks to the artists themselves and the starting point for a culture of participation was set.
