City Jam: Musik als Katalysator für Begegnung

Im ersten Sommerprogramm 2023 haben die jungen Stadtmacher:innen verschiedene Formate ausprobiert: Was funktioniert? Worauf haben die Menschen Lust? Immer mit einem forschenden Blick – wer kommt, wer bleibt, wer bringt wen mit?
Oft sind es die neugierigen Kinder aus der Nachbarschaft, die als Erste vorbeischauen. Dann kommen ihre Eltern dazu, und langsam entsteht ein kleiner Treffpunkt. Ein wichtiger Katalysator dabei: die Gruppe City Jam. Mit Erfahrung in Jam-Sessions, passenden Instrumenten und viel Gespür für die Stimmung sorgen sie für die musikalische Basis.
In Dessau gibt es kaum Musik im öffentlichen Raum – umso mehr ziehen diese Sessions Menschen an. Doch nicht alle trauen sich sofort mitzumachen. Musik kann verbinden, aber sie braucht manchmal einen Moment, bis sich alle wohlfühlen. Genau dafür gibt es City Jam: einen offenen Raum, in dem niemand perfekt sein muss – nur neugierig.

In the first summer programme 2023, the young city makers tried out various formats: What works? What do people want to do? Always with an enquiring eye – who comes, who stays, who brings whom?
It is often the curious children from the neighbourhood who are the first to drop by. Then their parents join them, and slowly a small meeting place develops. An important catalyst here is the City Jam group. With experience in jam sessions, suitable instruments and a great feel for the atmosphere, they provide the musical basis.
There is hardly any music in public spaces in Dessau – so these sessions attract people all the more. But not everyone dares to join in straight away. Music can bring people together, but sometimes it takes a moment for everyone to feel comfortable. This is exactly what City Jam is for: an open space where nobody has to be perfect – just curious.
