Food makes community.

Am 11.5. fand zum ersten Mal das International Food Fest in Mitte statt. Für das Buffet sorgten unsere Gäste selbst, indem alle eine selbstgekochte Speise aus ihrem Heimatland mitbrachten. Anlässlich des Muttertags lud das mitte dazu ein Gerichte mitzubringen, die sie an ihre Mamas erinnern. Ob türkisch, iranisch, deutsch, russisch oder jamaikanisch – es war ein Festschmaus, den wir gern in Zukunft wiederholen möchten! Viele neue Gesichter tauchten unter den ca. 50 Besuchenden auf und zeigt erneut, dass insbesondere gemeinsam Essen, am Tisch sitzen, teilen Menschen anzieht und Community schafft.

On May 11th, the International Food Fest took place in Mitte for the first time. Our guests provided the buffet themselves by bringing a homemade dish from their home country. Because of mothers day, we invited them to bring dishes that reminded them of their mothers. Whether Turkish, Iranian, German, Russian, or Jamaican – it was a feast we would love to repeat in the future! A lot of new faces showed up which again makes clear that especially eating and sitting together, sharing food attracts people and builds community.
